Who We Are
Temple Beth-El of Birmingham, Alabama, is a Conservative congregation affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. Our warm and welcoming environment provides a center for Jewish living and continuity for all. For generations, Temple Beth-El has maintained a reputation as being hospitable and open to all. Our congregational family includes members with deep roots in Birmingham, as well as many newcomers. We welcome you and invite you to come by and visit us in person.
Temple Beth-El provides a spiritual home for Jews of all ages and backgrounds. Temple Beth-El offers vibrant and meaningful worship services including a daily morning and evening minyan. We are proud to offer opportunities for Jewish learning in a warm supportive setting. At Temple Beth-El, women and men participate equally in services, and children are always welcome. Babysitting is offered at all Shabbat and holiday services. Shabbat mornings feature Junior Congregation, Mechina, and special programming for children of all ages.
At Temple Beth-El, the education of our children and teens is a high priority. We offer a comprehensive educational program for children beginning with pre-school and lasting through their high-school year. Our informal education program includes Chaverim, Kadima and USY which provides fun and inspirational programming for our youth.
Our synagogue building includes a newly renovated sanctuary that dates from 1926 and a brand new school wing and Cultural Center. Our Cultural Center seats up to 350 people for special events and celebrations.
