Holocaust Memorial

                                    Envisioned for decades, the 8-foot-tall steel monument – the first Holocaust Memorial                                                                     constructed in the city – was created by local artist Reuben Halpern in remembrance of                                                                       the 6 million Jews murdered during World War II. Only a handful of the more than                                          170 Holocaust survivors who settled in Alabama are still alive.
